The Bangladesh national cricket team will host the Pakistan national cricket team in a three-match One-Day International series beginning March 11 in Dhaka. The series comes at an important time for both sides as teams look to strengthen their positions in the ICC ODI Rankings and improve their chances of direct qualification for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
The matches will be played at venues in Dhaka across a five-day window, with the first ODI scheduled for March 11, the second on March 13, and the final game on March 15. All three matches are set to begin at 1:45 PM IST. The series is expected to be closely contested as Bangladesh aim to improve their ranking position while Pakistan look to maintain their strong standing in the global ODI table.
The qualification process for the 2027 Cricket World Cup places added importance on bilateral ODI series. According to the current criteria, host nations South Africa and Zimbabwe will automatically qualify, along with the top ten teams in the ICC ODI rankings. Teams that fail to secure those positions will have to compete in a global qualifying tournament for the remaining four spots in the 50-over World Cup.

As of the latest rankings update on March 4, Pakistan sits comfortably in fourth place with 105 rating points from 41 matches. Bangladesh, however, is currently placed tenth with 76 rating points from 38 games, putting them under pressure to secure positive results in upcoming fixtures. With less than a year remaining before rankings potentially determine direct qualification, every ODI series carries significant weight for teams on the edge of the top ten.
Bangladesh will be led by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, with experienced players such as Litton Das and Mustafizur Rahman included in the squad. Pakistan’s side will be captained by fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, with several regular players, including Babar Azam, rested for the series.
The ODI series will not be broadcast live on television in India. However, fans can watch the matches through live streaming on the Fancode app and website, allowing cricket followers to track the action as the two teams compete in an important series that could shape their path to the next Cricket World Cup.
