Rahul Dravid's younger son, Anvay Dravid, has earned a spot in the India U19 B squad for the upcoming tri-series against India U19 A and Afghanistan U19, set to unfold at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence from November 17 to 30, 2025. The 16-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, a promising talent from Karnataka, joins a 15-member panel led by captain Aaron George from Hyderabad, with Vedant Trivedi as vice-captain. Anvay's selection marks a significant milestone, following in the footsteps of his elder brother, Samit Dravid, who featured in India U19 squads before an injury setback. Known for his hard-hitting top-order batting and glovework, Anvay recently captained Karnataka to the Vinoo Mankad Trophy quarterfinals, amassing 220 runs in six games, including an unbeaten 82 against Himachal Pradesh.
The India U19 A squad will be helmed by Vihaan Malhotra from Punjab, with Abhigyan Kundu as vice-captain and wicketkeeper, despite the absence of prodigies Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre due to prior commitments. Suryavanshi, the youngest IPL contract holder at 13, and Mhatre are occupied with other engagements, allowing Malhotra to step up as skipper. This tri-series serves as a crucial preparatory platform ahead of the ACC U19 Asia Cup in December 2025 and the ICC U19 World Cup in 2026, scouting for future stars amid India's youth development pipeline.

Anvay's inclusion draws inevitable comparisons to his father, the legendary Rahul Dravid, who coached India to the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph and mentored U19 sides to back-to-back World Cup wins in 2018 and 2020. Yet, Anvay has carved his niche as a dynamic opener and keeper, showcasing maturity in domestic age-group cricket. The BCCI's junior selection committee, chaired by former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad, praised the squads for blending experience with raw potential, emphasising fitness and tactical acumen in the series.
As the tri-series kicks off, it offers Anvay a platform to impress selectors, potentially fast-tracking him toward senior domestic honours. With Afghanistan U19 providing a competitive edge, the event promises thrilling encounters, underscoring India's depth in youth cricket amid a packed international calendar.
