The Consulate General of India in Houston hosted the Viksit Bharat Run at George Bush Park, drawing over 900 participants on Sunday. Organized in collaboration with Indo-American diaspora organizations, the event featured a 3–5 kilometer run and walk, with families, youth, and seniors enthusiastically participating. Waving the Indian tricolor and carrying banners highlighting India’s developmental goals, attendees embodied the spirit of unity and progress.
Consular officials highlighted the event’s alignment with Seva Bhav—the ethos of selfless service—underscoring the deep connection between India and its diaspora. Participants emphasized that the run was more than a fitness event; it was a powerful reaffirmation of their shared commitment to India’s vision for a developed future by 2047. Many noted that such gatherings strengthen their bond with India’s progress while living abroad.
Concurrently, the Embassy of India in Washington, DC, partnered with MY Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to organize a similar Viksit Bharat Run 2025 in Maryland. Held as part of Seva Pakhwada (September 17–October 2), the event featured a community run/walk and the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam tree-planting initiative, celebrating service and sustainability.
