Actor-turned-politician Vijay, Chief of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has made a strong final appeal to voters ahead of the Tamil Nadu polling day, calling for what he described as a “whistle revolution". In an open letter released on the last day of campaigning, Vijay positioned the election as a decisive moment for the state’s political future.
Addressing the people of Tamil Nadu in an emotional tone, Vijay said he entered politics to repay the love and support he had received over the years, describing it as a personal debt of gratitude. He also launched a sharp attack on both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that both parties had caused him “indescribable pain” and reiterating his opposition to their ideologies.
Striking a defiant note, Vijay asserted that he would not yield to pressure, inducements, or intimidation, claiming that his party’s welfare-driven vision remained strong due to the support of women and youth. He expressed confidence that voters would deliver a decisive verdict and “teach a lesson” to established political forces in the state.

In his letter, Vijay urged voters to reject what he termed “political gamblers” driven by money and self-interest. He appealed to the electorate to support TVK’s whistle symbol, warning that voting for other parties would indirectly strengthen divisive forces. His messaging focused heavily on symbolism and emotional connection, particularly targeting young and first-time voters.
Despite criticism from opponents over his limited on-ground campaigning across only a handful of districts, Vijay has relied on widespread popularity and digital outreach to build momentum. His electoral debut is being closely watched, especially as he contests two constituencies—Perambur in Chennai and Trichy East—signalling a high-stakes entry into active politics.
The Tamil Nadu elections are shaping up to be a multi-cornered contest, with the ruling DMK seeking to retain power and the AIADMK aiming for a comeback. Amid this, Vijay is attempting to position himself as a serious alternative, drawing comparisons with past leaders who rose rapidly in state politics. His call for a “whistle revolution” underscores his attempt to channel public sentiment into a broader political movement as voters head to the polls.
