Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay has launched a sharp critique against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), accusing it of employing slander as a core political strategy in response to TVK’s growing influence ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. In a detailed post on X, Vijay described a party “intoxicated by power” that has institutionalized defamation since 1969, with corruption and bribery allegedly forming its operational foundation.
Vijay highlighted that TVK has limited its criticism to measured and civil statements thus far, yet the ruling dispensation appears deeply unsettled by the public support the new party is garnering. He asserted that the establishment has failed to produce any substantive rebuttal acceptable to the people, signaling its inability to counter TVK’s momentum through legitimate discourse.
The TVK leader questioned the DMK’s commitment to Tamil identity and social justice, particularly its stance on a caste-based census and adherence to the principles of land, language, and dignity. He criticized the state government’s “Festival of Knowledge” initiative as a platform for targeted defamation against TVK, alleging a departure from the foundational ideals of Periyar and Annadurai.

Vijay positioned TVK as a people-centric movement unbound by individual or systemic loyalties, pledging to expose the ruling party’s alleged hypocrisy in the lead-up to 2026. He declared that the elections would demonstrate the collective strength of the electorate.
The statement follows public remarks by Chief Minister MK Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin perceived as indirect attacks on Vijay’s political entry, further intensifying the pre-poll confrontation between the established DMK and the emerging TVK.
