Mumbai cyber police have lodged an FIR against unidentified individuals following a demonstration by NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, who illustrated the creation of a counterfeit Aadhaar card in US President Donald Trump's name. The fabricated document was allegedly used to enroll fictitious voters through a deceptive website. The case was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections for forgery, identity theft, and dissemination of false information, alongside Information Technology Act provisions.
The complaint originated from BJP social media cell co-convenor Dhananjay Wagaskar, who viewed Pawar's October 16 press conference on YouTube. Wagaskar accused the unnamed perpetrators of endangering national security by undermining public trust in autonomous institutions and inciting societal discord. He contended that the act aimed to sow enmity between political factions through manipulated electoral processes.
Pawar had alleged systematic irregularities post the Mahayuti alliance's Lok Sabha setbacks, including mass bogus voter registrations, deletion of legitimate names, and duplicate entries. He cited a surge from 32 lakh new voters added between 2019-2024 to 48 lakh in the six months preceding Maharashtra's assembly polls. Specific anomalies in his Karjat Jamkhed constituency included 14,292 additions, 5,360 deletions, and 14,162 duplicates.

Further claims involved cross-constituency misuse of Aadhaar details, where one voter's credentials were altered with different photographs and names to register elsewhere. Pawar asserted that deceased individuals were marked as active voters to facilitate proxy polling, compromising electoral integrity on a large scale.
Authorities are tracing the website's operators and users while examining digital footprints. The investigation seeks to dismantle any organized network behind the fraud, with potential implications for upcoming elections. Both political sides maintain vigilance as the probe unfolds.
