Senior BJP leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti has demanded a CBI investigation to uncover how her name was linked to the infamous Vyapam scam. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Bharti expressed distrust in the Madhya Pradesh Crime Branch, questioning their role in associating her with the scandal that has rocked the state’s political landscape.
“I don’t know how my name appeared in Vyapam. It feels like I was dragged into this mess. I trust the ATS and CBI, but what did the Crime Branch do? How many lives were ruined? Was someone shielded using my name?” Bharti said, highlighting the need for transparency.
In a heartfelt revelation, Bharti shared the toll her political career has taken on her family, alleging harassment by both Congress and BJP governments. She recounted how her brothers faced false charges of dacoity, robbery, and even murder during the 1990s under Digvijaya Singh’s regime. “My family paid a heavy price for my politics. My brothers’ children couldn’t progress, always burdened by my image,” she said.

Bharti clarified that she remains committed to the BJP and active politics. “I’m not leaving the BJP or politics. I’ll stay for another 10-15 years and contest elections if needed,” she asserted, referencing her long association with party stalwarts like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani.
Reiterating her focus on cow protection, Ganga rejuvenation, and alcohol prohibition, Bharti called corruption the state’s biggest challenge. “Cow rearing must become a way of life, and alcohol should be banned in Madhya Pradesh. These are my personal beliefs, not just political issues,” she said.
Bharti also raised concerns about the state police’s role in other high-profile cases, like the Aarushi murder case, and urged for the truth behind Vyapam to be revealed. “The harassment didn’t stop even after 2013. The truth must come out,” she demanded.
