The United Arab Emirates has issued one of its strongest condemnations yet of recent attacks by Iran, with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Saeed Bin Mubarak Al Hajeri describing the strikes as “unprovoked terrorist attacks.” In an interview with NDTV’s Vishnu Som, Al Hajeri said the UAE was targeted despite not being a direct party to the conflict, calling the escalation both deliberate and deeply concerning.
According to Al Hajeri, Iran launched more than 2,800 missiles and drones towards the UAE, more than any other country in the region faced during the recent tensions. He stressed that these were not isolated or accidental strikes but part of a calculated campaign aimed at destabilising a nation known for its economic openness and global partnerships. The remarks come just ahead of potential diplomatic talks linked to a fragile ceasefire involving the United States and Iran.
Framing the conflict as a clash of ideologies, the UAE minister said his country represents a model built on stability, development, and international cooperation. He highlighted how the UAE has used its oil wealth to invest in infrastructure, education, and economic diversification, creating a society where people from over 200 nationalities live and work. In contrast, he accused Iran of diverting resources towards military capabilities, including missiles, drones, and proxy networks, which he said raise serious global concerns.

Despite the scale of the attacks, Al Hajeri noted that the UAE’s multi-layered air defence systems successfully intercepted the majority of incoming threats. He praised the country’s armed forces for their professionalism and restraint, adding that the attacks failed to disrupt daily life or economic activity. “The UAE has not stopped functioning for a single day,” he said, emphasising the resilience of both the leadership and the people.
The safety of expatriates, including nearly five million Indians living in the UAE, was also highlighted as a top priority during the crisis. Al Hajeri assured that the government remains committed to protecting everyone within its borders while continuing to uphold international law and stability. He reiterated that the UAE would remain focused on growth and cooperation, positioning itself as a force for peace rather than conflict in the region.
