Two police personnel were killed in separate targeted shooting incidents in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday, in what authorities described as coordinated attacks that have intensified security concerns in the region. Police officials said investigations have been launched into both incidents, while search and intelligence-based operations are underway to trace the assailants. In the first incident, unidentified armed men opened fire on police constable Muhammad Roshan in the Sedgi Bakakhel area. According to police, the constable was attacked outside his residence, where he was standing at the time of the assault.
He sustained critical injuries and died on the spot before help could arrive. The attackers fled immediately after the shooting, taking advantage of the local terrain and lack of immediate witnesses, officials said. In the second incident, reported from near Azad Mandi, police officer Mishkwat Ullah Ameer was also killed in a targeted attack. Police stated that he was returning home after offering prayers at the Bakakhel Tablighi Markaz when unidentified gunmen ambushed him. He was shot multiple times and died before being transported for medical assistance.
The attackers escaped shortly after the incident, prompting a swift security response in the surrounding area. Law enforcement officials confirmed that both killings are being treated as targeted attacks on police personnel, though no group has immediately claimed responsibility. Security forces have intensified search operations in nearby villages and surrounding districts, while intelligence-based raids have been initiated to gather information about those involved. Officials said multiple units have been deployed to track movement patterns and possible escape routes used by the attackers.

The killings have heightened tension in Bannu and adjoining regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an area that has seen repeated incidents of militant violence and targeted attacks against security forces in recent years. Residents expressed concern over the latest incidents, calling for stronger preventive measures and increased patrolling in vulnerable localities. Community leaders strongly condemned the attacks, describing them as an attempt to destabilize already sensitive areas. Police officials said a detailed investigation is underway to determine whether the two incidents are linked or carried out by separate groups.
They added that forensic teams are collecting evidence from both crime scenes, while intelligence agencies are assisting in mapping potential networks behind the attacks. Authorities have also tightened security across key checkpoints and sensitive zones as a precautionary measure. Senior police leadership has vowed strict action against those responsible, stating that the force remains committed to maintaining law and order despite rising security challenges in the province. Further updates are expected as investigations progress and more operational details emerge from ongoing search efforts.
