Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday, holding detailed discussions on a wide range of development and infrastructure-related issues concerning the northeastern state. The meeting focused on strengthening healthcare, connectivity, and economic growth in Tripura, with the Chief Minister presenting several key proposals aimed at accelerating the state’s overall development.
A major request raised during the meeting was the establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Tripura. Chief Minister Saha emphasised the need for advanced healthcare facilities within the state to reduce dependence on medical treatment outside the region. The discussion also included proposals to enhance the state’s road network, including the extension of the National Highway from Kamalpur to Shantir Bazar in Dhalai district, which is expected to improve connectivity in remote and tribal areas.
The Chief Minister also highlighted several sector-specific development priorities, including expansion of the dairy industry, improvement of sports infrastructure, and strengthening of railway connectivity through a proposed double-line railway system. He further discussed the introduction of Vande Bharat train services in the state, along with initiatives aimed at boosting employment opportunities in the technology sector and promoting tourism as a key economic driver.
