Koparkhairne police in Navi Mumbai arrested three individuals on Thursday for possessing a country-made revolver and six live cartridges, valued at Rs 36,000, following a tip-off about suspicious activity near a public garden. The suspects, identified as Soutmaratan Prakash Singh (24) and Abhay Bobby Rajput (24), both drivers, and Pintu Sompal Kumar (22), a farmer, were apprehended after a swift police operation.
A senior official stated, “Our team acted on intelligence and found the accused carrying the illegal firearms.” Preliminary investigations suggest the trio may have intended to sell the weapons, and police are now probing the source of the revolver and potential buyers.
An FIR has been filed under the Arms Act. Posts on X reflect local concern over rising illegal arms activity, with some praising the police’s quick response. The arrests highlight ongoing efforts to curb illicit weapons trafficking in the region.
