A wave of sorrow has engulfed Asrauli village in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district following a devastating road accident in Rajasthan that claimed the lives of 11 residents, including seven children—one just a year old. The tragedy struck in the early hours of Wednesday, leaving the tight-knit community reeling.
The accident occurred around 4-5 am on the Manoharpur highway in Rajasthan’s Dausa district when a pickup van, carrying villagers returning from a pilgrimage to Khatu Shyam and Salasar Balaji temples, collided with a stationary truck. According to Dausa Superintendent of Police Sagar, the crash killed 11 people and left eight others injured. The victims, identified by Dausa Deputy SP Raviprakash Sharma, included Mishthi (1), Babu (3), Poorvi (6), Lakshay (6), Vaishnavi (7), Mahak (7), Saloni (9), Sheela (20), Priyanka (25), Seema (25), and Sonam (32).
Etah District Magistrate Prem Ranjan Singh, accompanied by the Senior Superintendent of Police and other officials, visited Asrauli to offer condolences and assure the bereaved families of full support. “We’ve dispatched a team to Dausa to assist the victims’ relatives and ensure the bodies are brought back to Etah,” Singh said.

The tragedy prompted the Lodhi Mahasabha to postpone the Virangana Rani Avantibai Lodhi Shobha Yatra, originally set for August 16. “A new date will be shared soon,” said Pramod Lodhi, general secretary of the mela committee.
As news spread, a large number of local leaders, residents, and well-wishers gathered in Asrauli to support the grieving families, reflecting the village’s unity in the face of unimaginable loss.
