Patna police have arrested three men after transactions worth around Rs 25 crore were allegedly routed through their bank accounts as part of an interstate cyber fraud network. The accused, identified as Prabhakar, Amit and Deepak, allegedly rented out their bank accounts to cyber scammers in exchange for payments. Police said the accounts were used to receive and transfer money linked to suspected cyber fraud across multiple states.
According to officials, the accused were allegedly paid between Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 for each transaction routed through their accounts. Two of the arrested men work as bike-taxi riders through the online ride-hailing platform Rapido, police said. While two suspects were arrested in Patna, the third was apprehended from Buxar district in Bihar during the investigation into the suspected cybercrime network.
DSP Sangita Kumari, in-charge of the Cyber Police Station in Patna, said cybercrime complaints involving the three accused had been filed on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP). The complaints were submitted by people from several states, indicating that the suspected transactions may have been connected to a wider interstate operation. Investigators are examining the money trail to determine how the accounts were used and who ultimately controlled the funds.

Police suspect that the three men were acting as account holders for a larger cyber fraud syndicate rather than operating independently. By allowing other people to use their bank accounts, they allegedly enabled scammers to move money received from victims through multiple financial channels. The investigation is now focused on identifying the individuals who allegedly recruited the account holders and determining the complete network behind the transactions.
The total value of transactions under scrutiny is estimated at around Rs 25 crore, although the exact amount directly linked to fraudulent activity is yet to be established through the investigation. Police are examining banking records and complaints filed across different states to trace the movement of funds. Investigators are also seeking to determine whether additional bank accounts were similarly rented out to members of the suspected network.
The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into an interstate cybercrime syndicate, with police now working to identify and apprehend other suspected members. Authorities are examining the role of each accused and the extent of their involvement in the alleged financial transactions. Further arrests are possible as investigators trace the money trail and establish how the suspected cyber fraud operation was organised and operated across multiple states.
