In a major crackdown, Thane police arrested three individuals and seized drugs worth over Rs 22 lakh in two raids in Kalyan, Maharashtra, on July 17 and 18, officials reported Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, the first raid targeted a room near the Valdhuni river under Khadakpada police station, where 1.12 kilograms of ganja, valued at Rs 25,000, was confiscated. Ravi Shivaji Gavli (30), a resident of Anupam Nagar, was arrested in connection with the seizure, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-III, Kalyan) Atul Zende.
The following day, a second raid behind APMC Market Road in Kalyan led to the arrest of Mohammad Kaif Mansur Shaikh (24) from Kalyan and Fardin Asif Sheikh (24) from Kongaon, Bhiwandi. Police seized 110 grams of mephedrone (MD), a synthetic drug worth Rs 22 lakh, during the operation.
