Infighting within the ruling Congress in Telangana has surfaced publicly after Endowments Minister Konda Surekha wrote to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy complaining against senior Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari. The minister accused Srihari of bypassing her authority by conducting an official review meeting with Endowments Department officers without informing or involving her, bringing an internal dispute within the party into the open.
According to Surekha, Srihari convened the meeting at the Endowments Department Commissioner's office in Hyderabad on July 6. The department's Director and other senior officials reportedly attended the meeting, where discussions covered temple development, preparation of master plans, protection of temple lands, removal of encroachments and deadlines for officials. Surekha objected to the meeting being conducted without her knowledge despite her position as the minister responsible for the department.
In her letter, Surekha said decisions concerning departmental administration, policy and development programmes fall under her authority. She described the decision to conduct a review meeting while excluding her as highly objectionable and alarming. The minister alleged that Srihari's actions were a deliberate attempt to undermine her position and publicly humiliate her, adding that such conduct could create confusion within the administrative machinery and set a troubling precedent for government functioning.

Surekha also referred to earlier tensions with Srihari, alleging that he had previously attempted to damage her reputation among public representatives in the Warangal district. She said those efforts had failed because she remained committed to party discipline and loyalty. The minister has now asked Revanth Reddy to seek a formal explanation from Srihari and examine the matter at both the government and party levels.
The minister has also requested that the dispute be referred to the Congress Disciplinary Committee for appropriate action. Srihari is among the senior political leaders from the Warangal region and had previously been associated with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi before joining the Congress. His daughter, Kadiyam Kavya, also moved from the BRS to the Congress and is currently a Member of Parliament, while Srihari represents Station Ghanpur in the Telangana Assembly.
Surekha has represented the Warangal region for more than two decades and previously served as a minister in the government led by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The latest dispute places Revanth Reddy in a difficult position amid existing tensions within the Telangana Congress, where some veteran leaders have accused the leadership of giving greater importance to recent entrants considered close to the Chief Minister.
