The Telangana High Court on Thursday adjourned its verdict on appeals against a single judge’s order that had cancelled the results and merit list of the Group-I services main examination conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC). The decision will now be pronounced on February 5.
A division bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin informed the parties that the judgment copy was not ready, despite concluding hearings on December 31, 2025. The court had reserved its order following detailed arguments from all parties.
The single judge, Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao, had directed the TSPSC to either manually re-evaluate all answer scripts or re-conduct the exams within eight months, citing “glaring lapses” in the evaluation process. Failure to comply would have led to cancellation of the Main exams for all qualified candidates.

Following an interim stay by the division bench, the TSPSC was allowed to issue provisional appointment orders based on the General Ranking List (GRL) announced on March 30, 2025. So far, candidates for 562 out of 563 posts have been provisionally selected, with one post kept vacant pending court orders.
The Group-I Mains exams, conducted from October 21 to 27, 2024, marked the first such examination in Telangana since its formation, after the last exam in 2011 under united Andhra Pradesh. Around 30,000 candidates appeared for the Main exams out of over 3 lakh prelims qualifiers, with significant controversies surrounding leaks and irregularities in earlier years.
As thousands of students await the High Court’s final ruling, the outcome is expected to decide the fate of appointments for key administrative posts across the state. Meanwhile, TSPSC continues to function under the interim order, balancing legal compliance and administrative necessity.
