Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy intensified his political attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) while laying out an ambitious development roadmap for Bharat Future City during an official event in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The Chief Minister inaugurated the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) office, launched its official website and logo, and handed over a Letter of Award to a consultancy firm responsible for preparing the master plan of the proposed urban project.
In a sharply worded critique, Revanth Reddy warned opposition leaders against continuing their resistance to the Future City initiative, asserting that such positions would erode their political relevance. He compared the BRS to a demonetised ₹1,000 currency note, saying the party had been rejected by the public and had no meaningful future in Telangana’s political landscape. His remarks reflected the ongoing intensification of political rivalry in the state.
The Chief Minister’s event also marked a key administrative milestone for the Future City project, with the formal establishment of the FCDA expected to serve as the nodal agency for planning and execution. Officials said the authority would coordinate infrastructure development, zoning frameworks and investment facilitation for the proposed urban hub. The launch of the FCDA website and branding was presented as part of efforts to institutionalise the project and accelerate its early-stage implementation.

Revanth Reddy said Bharat Future City is central to Telangana’s long-term economic strategy and is expected to contribute significantly to the state’s goal of achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2034. He emphasised that structured urban development, backed by global investment and modern infrastructure, would be essential for sustaining high growth over the next decade. The Chief Minister positioned the project as a cornerstone of the state’s development vision.
He further outlined that the proposed city would focus on emerging and high-growth sectors including green pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, education, healthcare, sports infrastructure, data centres and global capability centres (GCCs). He said the government aims to attract major multinational corporations, including Fortune 500 companies, to establish operations within the Future City ecosystem. According to him, the project is designed to compete with leading global urban centres such as Tokyo, Singapore and New York.
Concluding his remarks, the Chief Minister said Bharat Future City would emerge as a globally competitive urban hub, reinforcing Hyderabad’s already strong position as a technology and investment destination. He added that the initiative would integrate industrial growth with sustainable planning, ensuring long-term economic resilience. The event underscored the government’s focus on large-scale infrastructure-led development while also highlighting the continuing political confrontation between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS in Telangana.
