The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Chubb, Nordex, the University of Western Australia (UWA) and South Korean automotive component manufacturer Motivelink to boost investments across global capability centres, research and development, higher education and advanced manufacturing. The agreements are expected to generate more than 2,900 direct and indirect jobs across the state. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay said the projects would strengthen Tamil Nadu's position as a preferred destination for innovation-led investments while creating new employment opportunities for the state's youth.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Chief Minister said the investments align with the state's vision of becoming a global hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), research and development, higher education and advanced manufacturing. He assured investors of the government's full support to ensure the timely implementation of all four projects. The administration said the agreements reflect Tamil Nadu's continued focus on attracting high-value investments that contribute to long-term economic growth and technological advancement.
As part of the investment plans, Chubb will establish a Global Capability Centre in Chennai, creating 220 jobs, while renewable energy company Nordex will set up a Research and Development Centre expected to generate around 1,000 employment opportunities. Together, the two projects are projected to create 1,220 high-quality jobs and further strengthen Chennai's growing reputation as a leading destination for GCCs and research-driven industries.

The University of Western Australia will establish its India campus in Chennai under the University Grants Commission's 2023 regulations, becoming the first international university campus in Tamil Nadu. The 50,000-square-foot campus at Velachery will be developed with an investment of Rs 125 crore and is expected to create more than 200 direct and indirect jobs. The project is expected to enhance opportunities for international education and research collaboration within the state.
South Korean automotive component manufacturer Motivelink has also signed an MoU to establish a manufacturing facility at SIPCOT Pillaipakkam in Kancheepuram district. The project, which follows the Tamil Nadu Industries Minister's visit to South Korea in June 2026, will involve an investment of Rs 300 crore and is expected to generate around 1,500 jobs. Collectively, the four projects are expected to create more than 2,900 employment opportunities while supporting Tamil Nadu's strategy of attracting knowledge-based investments, promoting innovation and strengthening its industrial ecosystem.
