Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Saturday congratulated two teachers from the state who have been selected for the National Teachers' Award. The awardees are Thangaraj, a teacher at Puliyampatti Panchayat Union Primary School, and Amudha, a teacher at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya in Madurai. They are scheduled to receive the national honours from the President of India as part of the Teachers' Day celebrations.
In a statement, Vijay extended his congratulations and best wishes to both teachers, describing their selection as a recognition of their dedication to education and student welfare. He noted that their work, including innovative teaching practices, had contributed to their selection for the prestigious honour. The Chief Minister also acknowledged the wider role played by teachers in shaping the academic and personal development of children.
Vijay noted that the responsibilities of teachers extend beyond classroom instruction, as educators help develop students' confidence, curiosity, discipline and sense of social responsibility. He described teaching as a vital responsibility in shaping the future of children and communities. The recognition of the two teachers, he added, reflected the contribution of educators working at the school level.

The Chief Minister also expressed hope that the national recognition would motivate Thangaraj and Amudha to continue their work with greater commitment. He indicated that their achievements could encourage other teachers across Tamil Nadu to adopt creative teaching methods and place student welfare at the centre of their work. Their example was also presented as an inspiration for the wider teaching community.
The National Teachers' Awards are presented annually on Teachers' Day to recognise educators for notable contributions to school education and student development. The awards acknowledge teachers whose work has made a meaningful difference to learning and the lives of their students. The selection of the two teachers from Tamil Nadu has brought attention to their work and the state's contribution to school education.
Vijay wished both awardees continued success in their teaching careers and hoped their service would benefit more students in the years ahead. He also expressed confidence that their recognition would encourage sustained efforts to improve learning outcomes and promote innovation in classrooms across the state.
