Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district launched extensive search operations following the sighting of two Pakistani drones hovering over border villages, officials confirmed on Saturday. The drones were detected late Friday night in the skies above Challiyari village in the Ghagwal sector and Chamliyal village in the Ramgarh sector, raising concerns about potential cross-border threats.
The Border Security Force (BSF), in collaboration with local police, swiftly cordoned off the affected areas to prevent any possible airdropping of weapons, narcotics, or other illicit materials. The operations, which began early Saturday, involve thorough sweeps of the regions to ensure no suspicious items or activities went undetected. “We are taking no chances,” a senior BSF official stated, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance along the International Border.
The sightings have heightened tensions in the region, as drones from across the border have previously been linked to smuggling attempts and reconnaissance missions. Security forces are employing advanced surveillance equipment and ground patrols to comb the areas for any evidence of dropped payloads or other threats. The operations were still underway as of the latest updates, with officials maintaining a high state of alert.
