The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Indian Premier League franchises Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings extended birthday wishes to Suryakumar Yadav on Monday, celebrating the India batter's career and contributions to the national team. Suryakumar, who was born in September 1990, turned 36 this year. The occasion prompted messages from Indian cricket's governing body and his IPL teams, highlighting his achievements in the T20 format.
Suryakumar has established himself as one of India's most prominent T20 batters, earning recognition for his innovative stroke play and aggressive approach. He won the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year award in 2022 and 2023 and reached the No. 1 position in the ICC Men's T20I Batting Rankings in October 2022. He later recorded 910 rating points in January 2023, placing him among the highest-rated batters in the history of the format.
The batter also played an important role in India's recent success in T20 cricket. He was part of India's victorious campaign at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 and subsequently led the team to the 2026 T20 World Cup title as captain. Under his leadership, India also won the T20 Asia Cup in the UAE in 2025. These achievements have added to Suryakumar's standing as an important figure in India's T20 setup.

Mumbai Indians, who have been closely associated with Suryakumar during his IPL career, also posted a birthday message for their star batter, encouraging fans to send their wishes. Chennai Super Kings joined the celebrations as well, posting a message that referred to Suryakumar's cheerful personality. The birthday tributes from the BCCI and two of the IPL's most prominent franchises reflected his popularity across Indian cricket.
Suryakumar has represented India in 151 international matches and has scored more than 4,000 international runs. His career has been particularly notable for his impact in T20 cricket, where his unconventional shot-making and ability to score quickly have made him a key batter.
