A chilling crime has rocked Chadech village in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, where Pushp Kumar, a local resident, was arrested for allegedly murdering his 51-year-old mother, Jayamanti Devi, and burying her body in a nearby field. The shocking incident, which unfolded on Saturday night, August 16, 2025, came to light after Kumar himself filed a missing person report, raising suspicions among police and villagers.
According to Rajgarh Deputy Superintendent of Police VC Negi, Kumar confessed during interrogation to killing his mother following a heated domestic dispute. The altercation, fueled by frequent quarrels, escalated when Kumar struck Jayamanti Devi with a blunt object, inflicting severe injuries to her head, hands, and other body parts. He then strangled her to death and, under the cover of heavy rain and darkness, buried her body approximately 100 meters from their home in the Sarahan gram panchayat under Pachhad sub-division.
The case unraveled when Kumar’s sister and local residents alerted police to his possible involvement, citing his history of conflicts with his mother. Kumar’s father, Lacchi Kumar, had passed away just two months prior, adding a tragic backdrop to the family’s story. Police records also reveal Kumar’s prior charges for assaulting family members, indicating a pattern of violent behavior.
