Singapore will develop a first-of-its-kind “AI indoor garden” on the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, Singapore High Commissioner to India Simon Wong announced during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Surat on Friday. The proposed project is expected to add a technology-driven urban attraction to one of Gujarat’s most prominent public spaces while deepening economic ties between Singapore and the state.
Speaking at the conference inauguration at Auro University, Wong said Singapore companies are already actively engaged in Gujarat’s infrastructure growth. He noted that Singapore-based Surbana Jurong is implementing Phase 1 of the riverfront corridor connecting GIFT City in Gandhinagar with Ahmedabad. He also highlighted the strong commercial links between Surat and Singapore through diamonds, textiles and manufacturing exports.
Wong said a significant share of India’s exports to Singapore originates from Gujarat, particularly in petrochemicals, jewellery, textiles, pharmaceuticals and machinery. He added that Singapore plans to make a major announcement at the main Vibrant Gujarat Summit scheduled for January next year, indicating more investment interest in the state.
