Russia warned Britain on Monday that it would pay a "price" over what Moscow described as London's growing involvement in the war in Ukraine, following reports that British-made drones supplied to Kyiv had been used in strikes deep inside Russian territory. The warning was issued by Russia's embassy in London after the Sunday Times reported that drones produced by two British companies had been used to target military and industrial facilities inside Russia.
The Russian embassy accused Britain of becoming an "accomplice and co-perpetrator" in the reported attacks and said the UK was "deliberately opting for an escalation" of the conflict. In a statement, the embassy warned that Britain's involvement could carry consequences. "The deeper its involvement in the conflict and the greater its support for Kiev's terrorist machinery, the higher the price it will pay," it said, using Moscow's terminology for Ukraine's military operations.
The warning follows a report by the Sunday Times that drones manufactured by two British companies had been deployed by Ukrainian forces in attacks on targets inside Russian territory. The report said one of the companies involved was a subsidiary of defence giant BAE Systems. The identity of the second company was not disclosed by the newspaper, which cited security concerns. The reported use of British-produced equipment in attacks far from the frontline could further complicate relations between Moscow and London.

The British government did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the Russian allegations or the newspaper report. Britain has consistently backed Ukraine since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022 and has provided substantial financial and military assistance. London has also maintained that Ukraine has the right to defend itself against Russian military operations, while continuing to provide equipment and training to Ukrainian forces.
The United Kingdom has emerged as one of Ukraine's strongest international supporters during the conflict. According to the figures cited in the report, Britain has committed around £25 billion ($33 billion) in support for Ukraine, including approximately £16 billion in military assistance. The scale of that support has made Britain a major contributor to Ukraine's defence capabilities and a frequent target of criticism from Moscow.
The reported deployment of British-made drones comes amid continued Ukrainian efforts to strike military and industrial infrastructure inside Russia. Kyiv has increasingly relied on long-range drone operations during the conflict, while Moscow has repeatedly accused Western countries of becoming directly involved by supplying weapons and military technology to Ukraine. Western governments, meanwhile, have generally distinguished between providing military assistance and directly participating in Ukrainian military operations.
Russia's latest warning adds to already strained relations between Moscow and London and signals that the Kremlin is closely monitoring the origin of weapons and equipment used in attacks on Russian territory. The embassy's statement did not specify what measures Britain might face or what Moscow's reference to a "price" would entail. With Britain continuing to provide substantial military support to Ukraine, the dispute over the use of British-made drones is likely to remain another point of tension between the two countries as the war continues.
