Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy led a protest rally and dharna in Kodangal on Wednesday against the detention of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other party members during a demonstration in New Delhi. The protest was organised to express opposition to the action taken against the leaders during a demonstration related to allegations of examination irregularities and issues affecting students.

Revanth Reddy, who was visiting his Assembly constituency of Kodangal, joined Congress leaders and workers in a rally through the town. The march, carrying Congress flags and banners, later turned into a protest meeting near the Ambedkar statue, where party members raised slogans against the detention of their leaders. The Chief Minister criticised the action and described it as an attack on democratic rights, according to party statements.

The protest followed the detention of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other Congress leaders during a demonstration in Delhi. Congress leaders alleged that the action was taken while they were raising concerns related to paper leaks and student issues. The party has continued to demand accountability from the Centre over the matter, while political reactions have emerged from leaders across different states.

Addressing the gathering in Kodangal, Revanth Reddy accused the central government of ignoring the concerns of students and demanded action against those responsible for alleged examination-related irregularities. He also called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the issue. The Telangana Chief Minister said Congress would continue its protest through democratic platforms until its demands were addressed.

The demonstration in Kodangal is part of a wider political response by Congress units following the detention of senior party leaders in Delhi. Similar protests and statements of support were reported from other Congress leaders, who questioned the handling of opposition demonstrations and emphasised the right to peaceful protest.
