Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday questioned the Centre over its alleged inaction in the Kaleshwaram project case, seeking clarity on why no action has been taken against former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and ex-Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao. The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions surrounding the investigation into alleged irregularities in the irrigation project.
Reddy stated that the state government had already handed over the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation, expecting a thorough inquiry into the matter. He questioned why the central agency had not taken decisive steps despite being entrusted with the investigation, raising concerns over delays and accountability.
In addition to the Kaleshwaram issue, the chief minister also called for the formation of a House committee to investigate alleged illegal mining activities in the state. He emphasised the need for a transparent and comprehensive review to address public concerns and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
The Kaleshwaram project, one of the largest irrigation initiatives in India, has remained under scrutiny over alleged financial and procedural irregularities. The issue has triggered a series of political exchanges between the ruling dispensation in Telangana and opposition leaders, intensifying the debate around governance and accountability.
The developments highlight the continuing political confrontation in the state, with allegations and counter-allegations shaping the narrative. As demands for clearer action grow, the focus remains on investigative progress and institutional response in the coming weeks.
