The Mumbai Police have informed the Bombay High Court that former celebrity manager Disha Salian died by suicide, with no evidence of foul play, contradicting claims by her father, Satish Salian, who alleges she was gangraped and murdered.
Salian, who fell from the 14th floor of a Malad residential building on June 8, 2020, was under significant mental stress due to family disputes and failing business deals, according to a police affidavit filed last month.
The affidavit, submitted by Malvani police station’s senior inspector Shailendra Nagarkar, stated that Salian, who was intoxicated at the time, jumped from the flat’s window of her own volition. The postmortem report showed no signs of sexual or physical assault, and her fiancé, present during the incident, also ruled out any suspicion.

The police emphasized that their closure report, backed by a Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) findings, was based on scientific investigation, dismissing Satish Salian’s allegations as “baseless and unfounded.” However, the affidavit noted that further investigation is ongoing. Satish Salian, in a petition filed in March 2025, demanded a CBI probe and an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray, alleging a politically motivated cover-up.
During a Wednesday hearing before Justice A.S. Gadkari, he argued that the SIT’s probe into an alleged gangrape and murder without registering an FIR was illegal. He also claimed the police violated court orders by submitting an affidavit instead of the Maharashtra government’s chief secretary. Aditya Thackeray, seeking to intervene, filed an application calling Salian’s petition “false, frivolous, and motivated,” requesting a hearing before any court order.
The case is set for further hearing on July 16, as the court navigates conflicting narratives in this high-profile controversy.
