A political rift within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) intensified on Saturday after Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha publicly dismissed allegations made against him by his own party, accusing its leadership of spreading “lies” and attempting to silence him. In a video message, Chadha said he felt “ghayal” (hurt) and referenced the term “Dhurandhar” while defending his political conduct and credibility.
The controversy comes days after Chadha was removed from his position as deputy leader of AAP in the Rajya Sabha, with Ashok Mittal being appointed as his replacement. The move marked a significant shift within the party’s parliamentary leadership and brought internal disagreements into the public domain, sparking a series of statements and counter-statements from senior leaders.
Responding to the allegations, Chadha termed them “baseless, selective, and part of a coordinated attack". He specifically refuted claims that he had failed to participate in opposition walkouts in Parliament. “CCTV footage is available in Parliament. One can check that and show me one occasion when I did not stage a walkout with the opposition," he said, challenging the party’s narrative and asserting his consistent alignment with opposition strategies.

The dispute has also seen other prominent AAP leaders, including Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj, former Chief Minister Atishi Marlena, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, engaging in sharp exchanges. The episode highlights growing internal tensions within AAP at a time when the party is navigating key political challenges, raising questions about unity and leadership dynamics ahead of upcoming parliamentary developments.
