Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi raised concerns over the poor condition of roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in his constituency Raebareli during a district-level review meeting. He displayed photographs showing pothole-ridden stretches and sought information about the agencies responsible for constructing the roads. Gandhi raised the issue while attending a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee, known as DISHA, at the Collectorate. The meeting focused on reviewing the implementation of Central government schemes and examining issues affecting development works in the district.
Gandhi is on a two-day visit to Raebareli and attended the meeting alongside Congress Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma, elected representatives and government officials. The DISHA meeting provides a platform to review the progress of various government programmes and identify difficulties in their implementation. During the discussions, the condition of roads under the rural connectivity scheme became one of the issues highlighted by Gandhi. By presenting photographs of damaged road stretches, he sought attention to the condition of infrastructure intended to improve connectivity in rural areas.
