Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami celebrated the traditional folk festival of Phool Dei at his official residence on Saturday, extending his greetings and best wishes to the people of the state. His wife, Geeta Pushkar Dhami, was also present during the celebrations.
The festival was observed with traditional customs, as children dressed in regional attire placed flowers and rice at doorsteps while praying for the happiness and prosperity of the community. They also sang folk songs, and the Chief Minister welcomed them personally, presenting gifts in appreciation.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Dhami highlighted that Phool Dei reflects Uttarakhand’s rich folk culture, deep respect for nature, and enduring traditions. He noted that the festival marks the arrival of spring, symbolising nature’s beauty and the renewal of energy in life, while reminding people to express gratitude toward the environment.

The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of preserving the state’s cultural heritage, noting that folk festivals like Phool Dei play a key role in connecting communities to their roots. “Such celebrations should be passed on to future generations to keep Uttarakhand’s folk culture alive,” he said, encouraging people to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm.
CM Dhami added that the festival’s message of gratitude to nature, coupled with the arrival of spring, serves as inspiration for people to remain connected to their cultural roots while introducing younger generations to these traditions.
In addition to the Phool Dei celebrations, the Chief Minister also participated in the 119th All India Farmers’ Fair and Agricultural Industry Exhibition at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, underlining his engagement with both cultural and agricultural initiatives in the state.
