Mumbai Police have apprehended a 35-year-old man from Punjab for allegedly making a hoax call to the police control room, claiming that Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was facing a death threat. The man, identified as Manish Kumar Sujinder Singh, reportedly provided false information about a supposed murder plot involving the actor.
According to officials from Khar police station, Singh called the Mumbai police control room on Monday and claimed that individuals from a security agency had been contracted to kill Shroff. He further alleged that a weapon and a contract, or supari, worth Rs 2 lakh had been handed over to execute the murder.
The alarming nature of the call prompted swift action from the Mumbai police, who began investigating the claim immediately. However, the probe soon revealed that the information was fabricated. Singh had concocted the entire story, leading police to lodge a case of providing false information and misleading authorities.

Coordination between the Mumbai and Punjab police led to Singh being tracked down and detained in Punjab. Authorities are currently in the process of bringing him to Mumbai for further legal action, a police official confirmed.
This incident comes at a time when Bollywood celebrities have increasingly become targets of threats and hoaxes. Just last week, a man from Gujarat’s Vadodara district — described as mentally unstable — issued a death threat to superstar Salman Khan via a WhatsApp message sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police’s helpline. Khan has been under Y-plus category security in light of multiple threats received over the past year.
The police have reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to spread panic or misuse emergency services, stressing that such hoaxes divert critical resources and endanger public safety.
