President Droupadi Murmu has extended greetings to Canada on the occasion of Canada Day, expressing optimism over the recent improvement in India-Canada relations and highlighting the renewed momentum in bilateral engagement. In her message to Canada's Governor General, she said recent high-level interactions had strengthened cooperation between the two countries and reflected a shared commitment to deepening ties across multiple sectors.

Canada celebrates its national day on July 1 each year, commemorating the formation of the Canadian Confederation in 1867. In her message, President Murmu said she was encouraged by the "recent positive momentum" in relations between New Delhi and Ottawa. She noted that the renewed diplomatic engagement between the two countries had created fresh opportunities to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The President also referred to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to India earlier this year, describing it as an important step in revitalising bilateral ties. She said the visit had imparted "fresh impetus" to the partnership and underscored the commitment of both governments to strengthening collaboration across a broad range of sectors. Her remarks reflected growing optimism about the direction of India-Canada relations following a period of strained diplomatic ties.

Prime Minister Carney visited India and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on March 1, where the two leaders agreed on an ambitious roadmap to elevate the bilateral relationship.
