Jan Suraaj party founder Prashant Kishor has announced a bold strategy to challenge the BJP by forging a coalition between Hindus inspired by the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi and Babasaheb Ambedkar, and the Muslim community. Speaking to reporters following a meeting with Muslim leaders affiliated with Jan Suraaj, Kishor outlined his vision ahead of the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
Kishor emphasized that not all Hindus support the BJP and stated, “It cannot even be said that a majority of Hindus are with the BJP. We are aiming to build an ideology-based alliance.” He further added, “An alliance between Hindus, who uphold the principles of Gandhi and Ambedkar, and Muslims has the potential to decisively defeat the BJP.”
The Jan Suraaj party, which Kishor launched less than a year ago, plans to field 40 Muslim candidates in the 243-seat Bihar Assembly elections, signaling a significant political move. This announcement has reportedly caused unease within the RJD-Congress-Left alliance, which has traditionally depended on minority votes.
