A well-known YouTuber identified as an “ex-Muslim” social media creator has been arrested in connection with a decades-old murder case dating back to 1995, according to police officials. The arrest marks a major development in a long-pending investigation involving the kidnapping and killing of a 13-year-old boy in Delhi.
The accused, identified as Salim Wastik (also known by aliases Salim Khan and Salim Ahmed), was taken into custody by the Delhi Police Crime Branch from the Loni area in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Authorities said his identity was confirmed through old records, fingerprints, and photographic evidence after sustained surveillance operations.
According to investigators, the case originates from January 20, 1995, when a schoolboy was abducted while on his way home. The family later received a ransom demand, but the child was subsequently killed, and his body was recovered from a drain in the Mustafabad area. Police had earlier arrested the accused and his associate, and both were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1997.

However, officials stated that the accused secured interim bail in 2000 from the Delhi High Court and failed to return to custody, effectively absconding for years. During this period, he allegedly lived under multiple identities across different locations, including parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, while later gaining online prominence as a YouTuber and commentator.
The arrest has drawn attention due to the accused’s recent public profile and controversial online presence. Police also noted that he had recently survived a separate violent attack at his residence in Ghaziabad, which had brought him into the public spotlight in recent months.
Authorities said further legal proceedings are underway, and the accused will be produced before court. Additional investigation is expected to examine his movements during his years on the run and verify all associated identity changes and records.
