More than 42,000 people have been placed on the waiting list for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public programme in Vadodara after all available seats were booked within an hour of free registration opening on BookMyShow. The strong response comes ahead of Modi's visit to Gujarat on Tuesday, when he will inaugurate and dedicate development projects worth more than Rs 35,000 crore.
The registration drive, conducted by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation, marks the first reported use of a private digital platform to manage public participation in a Prime Minister's programme. Registrations were closed after all available seats were filled, while the waiting list continued to grow. The system has been designed to manage participation digitally and facilitate smoother entry and crowd movement at the venue.
The event will use a fully digital entry and venue-management system. Registered participants will receive an M-Ticket through their BookMyShow accounts, featuring a secure live QR code for entry verification. Registration, verification, venue access and seat allocation will be managed digitally, allowing authorities to streamline the process and reduce delays during the programme.

A major highlight of Modi's Vadodara visit will be the dedication of three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor spanning 326 route kilometres and built at a cost exceeding Rs 20,700 crore. With these sections becoming operational, the freight corridor will be fully commissioned along its entire length, strengthening freight connectivity, reducing logistics costs and helping ease pressure on Mumbai's rail network.
Modi will also flag off freight train services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura and New Umbergaon, as well as New JNPT in Mumbai. The programme will include the inauguration and dedication of railway, highway and Gujarat government projects involving thousands of crores, along with the foundation stones for additional development works.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Gujarat and Maharashtra on September 8. After addressing the public programme in Vadodara, he will travel to Mumbai to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026. The large waiting list for the Vadodara event highlights the high level of public interest surrounding the Prime Minister's programme and the major infrastructure projects planned for the visit.
