Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release former President Ram Nath Kovind’s autobiography, titled “Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles”, at an event in New Delhi on Wednesday. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the book will be released at 9:30 am at Vigyan Bhavan, where Modi will also address the gathering.

The PMO described the occasion as a significant event celebrating Kovind’s life and public service. The autobiography offers a personal account of his journey, covering his early years, challenges and achievements before his entry into public life and eventual tenure as the 14th President of India.

The book also explores the experiences and circumstances that shaped Kovind’s approach to public service. His journey included political, parliamentary and constitutional responsibilities over several decades before he became President. He served as Governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017 before succeeding as President in 2017.

Kovind was born on October 1, 1945, in Paraunkh village in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur Dehat district. He joined the BJP in 1991 and later served as chief of the party’s Dalit Morcha from 1998 to 2002. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh in April 1994 and completed two consecutive terms, serving in Parliament for 12 years until March 2006.

Before becoming President, Kovind also served as president of the All-India Koli Samaj and remained involved in public and political activities. His early electoral attempts included contests from Ghatampur and Bhognipur on BJP tickets, although he was unsuccessful in both elections. His subsequent parliamentary career marked a significant phase in his rise through public life.

Kovind served as President from 2017 to 2022, becoming the first person from Uttar Pradesh and the first BJP member to hold India’s highest constitutional office. His autobiography is expected to provide a broader account of the experiences, challenges and values that shaped his journey from his early years in Uttar Pradesh to the presidency.
