Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for constructive debate and meaningful discussions as the Monsoon Session of Parliament commenced, urging lawmakers to ensure that facts, arguments and every voice receive due respect. Addressing reporters at the Parliament complex, the Prime Minister said the session begins at a time when India has gained momentum across multiple sectors and expressed hope that Parliament would further strengthen the country's development through productive deliberations.

Speaking ahead of the start of the session, Modi said there was no need for disruption when issues could be debated through reasoned arguments and evidence. "There is no need for a storm where arguments and facts are there. I hope that facts and arguments, and every voice get an opportunity and respect," he said. The Prime Minister added that a constructive approach in Parliament was essential to advancing the country's national objectives.

Highlighting India's recent economic and technological progress, Modi said the country has continued to maintain strong momentum despite global challenges. He referred to India's economic growth even amid pressures on oil and fertiliser supplies arising from the West Asia conflict. The Prime Minister also pointed to recent milestones, including the country's first private orbital rocket launch and the introduction of India's first hydrogen-powered train, as examples of the nation's growing capabilities.

"The Monsoon Session is beginning at a time when the country has gathered speed. The spirit of Parliament can infuse it with new energy. Constructive spirit is necessary to achieve the goals of the country," Modi said. He stressed that Parliament plays a vital role in shaping policy and strengthening democratic governance through informed discussions and cooperation among political parties.

The Monsoon Session is expected to witness discussions on several important legislative proposals and national issues, with both the government and the Opposition preparing to raise a range of policy matters. As in previous sessions, debates are likely to cover economic developments, governance, education, infrastructure, social welfare and other issues of public importance, making the session a key period in the parliamentary calendar.

The Prime Minister's remarks set the tone for the session by appealing for respectful dialogue and constructive participation from all members. His emphasis on facts, reasoned debate and national development reflects the government's expectation that Parliament will function effectively while addressing the country's legislative priorities and responding to issues affecting citizens across the country.
