Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Karnataka on Wednesday, where he was warmly received at HAL Airport in Bengaluru by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ahead of his visit to Mandya district to participate in a religious and public programme at the Adichunchanagiri Mutt.
During the airport reception, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also handed over a five-page memorandum to the Prime Minister, outlining a series of state-level demands and seeking the Union government’s intervention on key issues affecting Karnataka. Senior state officials, including Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, were also present on the occasion.
Following his arrival, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to travel to Adichunchanagiri in Mandya district, where he will inaugurate the Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandir at the Adichunchanagiri Math. The Prime Minister will first reach the site by Indian Army helicopter, which is expected to land at the helipad at Shrigiri Tapovana, before proceeding by road to the mutt for the main programme.

Security has been significantly tightened in and around Adichunchanagiri ahead of the visit, with more than 2,000 police personnel deployed to ensure smooth conduct of the event. The arrangements include senior officers such as six SP-rank officers, multiple ASPs and DySPs, along with hundreds of inspectors, constables, and specialised rapid response and Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) units.
The Prime Minister’s programme at the religious centre includes participation in rituals and a stage event, where he will inaugurate the newly constructed Sri Guru Bhairavakya Mandira. This marks the first visit by a sitting Prime Minister to the Adichunchanagiri Mutt, a prominent spiritual institution in Karnataka with significant influence among the Vokkaliga community in southern parts of the state.
Ahead of the visit, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy extended a formal welcome, describing the occasion as a moment of pride for Mandya district. He emphasised that the event is non-political in nature and is expected to see participation from leaders across party lines, including former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and other dignitaries. The Prime Minister is also expected to be honoured with a traditional Mysuru Peta during the ceremony.
