One Indian national was killed and nine others were injured after a vehicle veered off the road on Sultan Said bin Teymur Street in Oman on Saturday. The incident prompted a rescue and medical response, with the injured passengers taken to Nizwa Hospital for treatment. The Royal Oman Police confirmed the casualties in a post on X.
According to the police, the vehicle went off the road before the accident occurred. Nine people, all identified as Indian nationals, sustained injuries in the incident. One person died as a result of the accident, while the injured were transported to hospital for medical attention.
The Royal Oman Police said its Air Wing was involved in transporting two of the injured from Al Hema Governorate to Nizwa Hospital. Ambulance vehicles were also used to move the remaining injured people to the medical facility. The authorities have not released further information about the severity of the injuries or the current condition of those undergoing treatment.

The police have not provided details about what caused the vehicle to veer off the road. An investigation may be required to determine whether road conditions, visibility, driver-related factors or other circumstances contributed to the accident. No further information about the vehicle or the identities of those involved was immediately released.
The incident occurred amid weather-related concerns in parts of Oman. Khaleej Times had earlier reported warnings of low visibility on highways because of thunderstorms, heavy rain and blowing dust. Such conditions can make driving more difficult by reducing visibility and affecting road conditions, although authorities have not linked the reported weather conditions directly to this particular accident.
