A woman was killed and two others, including a child, were seriously injured after a speeding Scorpio SUV crashed into pedestrians waiting near a bus stop in Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district on Wednesday. The incident, which was captured on CCTV cameras and later circulated widely on social media, has renewed concerns over reckless driving and road safety in the region.
According to police officials, the accident occurred when the Scorpio allegedly lost control while travelling at high speed and veered off the road before ploughing into people standing beside the roadside bus stop. The force of the collision caused severe injuries to the victims, creating panic among bystanders and commuters in the area.

Police identified the deceased woman as 35-year-old Lakshmi, who reportedly died on the spot due to critical injuries sustained in the crash. Another woman and a child suffered serious injuries and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by local residents before emergency personnel reached the scene. Hospital authorities said the injured victims are currently undergoing treatment.
Eyewitnesses described the moments before the collision as chaotic, claiming the vehicle was moving at an “extremely high speed” before crashing into the waiting passengers. Several residents gathered at the site shortly after the incident, while videos from nearby CCTV cameras quickly spread online, prompting widespread reactions and calls for stricter traffic enforcement.
Police reached the scene soon after receiving information about the accident and shifted the victim’s body for postmortem examination. A case has been registered, and investigators have begun examining CCTV footage, questioning eyewitnesses, and verifying the details of the vehicle and its driver to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the crash.
Authorities suspect that speeding and negligent driving may have caused the accident. Officials said further legal action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation. The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over rash driving incidents on Indian roads and the risks faced by pedestrians waiting near busy roadways.
