Protests by factory workers demanding a wage hike turned violent in parts of Noida on Monday, prompting heavy police deployment and urgent administrative action. A large number of workers from multiple industrial units gathered to raise their long-pending demands for salary revision. The demonstration began as a peaceful protest with slogan-shouting and assembly. However, tensions escalated rapidly, leading to clashes and unrest in the area.
According to officials, sections of the protesting crowd allegedly engaged in violent activities during the agitation. Protesters reportedly vandalised nearby property, hurled stones, and even set a vehicle on fire. The sudden outbreak of violence created panic among residents and workers in surrounding industrial zones. Authorities said the situation worsened quickly, requiring immediate intervention by law enforcement agencies.
Police forces were deployed in large numbers across the affected areas to control the situation and prevent further escalation. Officials confirmed that efforts were underway to disperse the crowd and restore law and order. Surveillance and monitoring have been intensified, and those involved in violent acts are being identified. The administration has assured strict action against individuals responsible for damaging public and private property.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to take firm action against anti-social elements attempting to instigate violence. At the same time, he emphasised the need to address genuine concerns of workers through proper channels. Authorities are expected to review the wage-related demands that triggered the protest. The government has urged workers to maintain peace while discussions are held.
The unrest has also severely impacted traffic movement in and around Noida, particularly on roads connecting to New Delhi. Thousands of commuters have been stranded in long traffic jams as key routes remain congested. Emergency services and police are working to clear the roads and ease movement. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely, with further updates expected as developments unfold.
