BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Sunday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for building a vibrant and self-reliant space ecosystem, with greater opportunities for youth and startups. His remarks came on National Space Day, which commemorates India’s growing achievements in space science and technology.
In a message on X, Nabin noted that India’s young innovators and startups are being encouraged to take risks, develop new technologies and compete in global markets. He linked the growth of the space sector with the broader vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, stressing the importance of a stable policy environment for innovation.
Nabin also highlighted India’s achievements in lunar exploration, particularly the Chandrayaan-3 mission. He noted that the mission achieved a historic soft landing near the Moon’s south polar region, with the landing site later named Shiv Shakti Point. He described the achievement as a reflection of the scientific expertise, dedication and innovative spirit of Indian scientists.

The BJP chief further linked the country’s space ambitions with the goal of building a Viksit Bharat. He noted that India is continuing to reach new milestones in space science and technology while seeking to strengthen its position among the world’s leading space powers.
National Space Day 2026 is being observed under the theme, “Towards Viksit Bharat: Innovating, Collaborating and Aspiring to Global Space Leadership.” The theme focuses on strengthening India’s scientific and technological capabilities while encouraging innovation, collaboration and wider participation in the global space ecosystem.
Nabin’s remarks come amid increasing emphasis on the participation of startups and young innovators in India’s space sector. His message framed the country’s space programme not only as a scientific endeavour but also as an important part of India’s broader technological and self-reliance ambitions.
