India on Wednesday issued a strong condemnation of the reported destruction of a Hindu temple in the Narowal region of Pakistan, calling on Islamabad to launch an immediate and transparent investigation into the incident and to hold those responsible fully accountable. The External Affairs Ministry said Pakistan must also take urgent remedial steps to restore the site, describing the episode as reflective of a broader failure on the part of Pakistani authorities to safeguard the country's minority communities and their places of worship. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, responding to media queries on the incident, said India had "noted with deep concern" reports concerning the destruction of a historic Hindu temple located in the village of Siraj in Narowal, Pakistan. "We unequivocally condemn this reprehensible act of vandalism against a century-old minority place of worship," Jaiswal said, characterizing the act as a serious violation of both religious sentiment and cultural heritage. The temple, understood to be more than a hundred years old, has held longstanding significance for the region's Hindu minority community.

Jaiswal went on to criticize what he described as the "apparent apathy" shown by Pakistani authorities in failing to prevent the destruction of the century-old structure, calling the lapse "alarming."
