Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized that journalism’s vitality hinges on an unrelenting pursuit of truth, urging budding journalists to stay vigilant, uphold moral values, and strengthen democracy.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 2025-26 academic session and the ‘Abhyudaya 2025’ program at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Journalism University in Bhopal on Wednesday, Yadav highlighted the historical significance of communication, drawing parallels with the Ramayana’s Hanuman dialogues and the Mahabharata’s Yaksha Prashna, where Yudhishthira faced philosophical queries from a divine being.
“Journalism’s richness endures only through the struggle for truth,” Yadav declared, noting its power to shape events subtly or profoundly. He described ‘Abhyudaya’ not merely as a beginning but a continuous journey of awareness and responsibility to guide society. Yadav praised the university’s national stature, honoring its namesake, legendary poet Makhanlal Chaturvedi, born in Babai Nagar and active in Khandwa. The CM unveiled Chaturvedi’s statue on campus and planted a sapling, symbolizing growth and legacy.
Noted poet Kumar Vishwas, also present, addressed the credibility crisis in media amid social media’s rise, advising students to spend at least three years in print journalism to master language and news writing. “Neutrality and honesty must be your priority,” he urged, citing the younger generation’s historical role in nation-building. University Vice Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari outlined ‘Abhyudaya 2025,’ emphasizing innovation and the institution’s commitment to ethical journalism.
