A 42-year-old man died by suicide in Kerala’s Kozhikode district after a woman influencer posted a viral video on social media accusing him of sexually harassing her during a bus journey, police said on Sunday.
The deceased, identified as Deepak U, was found hanging inside his residence on Sunday morning. According to the police, his parents went to wake him around 7 am but received no response. Neighbours were called for help, and the door was forced open, revealing that Deepak had taken his own life.
Relatives told investigators that Deepak was employed at a textile firm and had travelled to Kannur on Friday for work-related purposes. It was during this journey that the alleged incident occurred on a bus, following which a woman influencer recorded and shared a video accusing him of misbehaviour.

The video quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing widespread attention and public reaction. Police sources said Deepak was deeply distressed after the allegations surfaced online, though a detailed inquiry is still underway to determine the exact sequence of events.
Officials confirmed that no suicide note has been recovered so far. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and are examining digital evidence, including the viral video and related social media activity, as part of the investigation.
