A severe heatwave sweeping across Maharashtra has claimed another life, with a 37-year-old man reportedly dying due to suspected heatstroke in Parbhani district. The incident comes amid rising temperatures across the state and neighbouring regions, where extreme weather conditions have been affecting daily life and raising health concerns among residents.
According to reports, the deceased, identified as Shivaji Baban Kamble, was travelling towards his brother-in-law’s residence in the Nandkheda Road area when the incident occurred. During the journey, he is believed to have become disoriented due to intense heat exposure, eventually collapsing and falling into a pit. Locals later found him in an unconscious state, and he was declared dead following the incident.
Police officials stated that Kamble had arrived in Parbhani on April 23 along with his wife, Meenakshi, and was staying at his brother’s residence. A complaint has been registered at the Nanalpeth Police Station, and preliminary findings suggest that prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures may have led to heatstroke, though further details are awaited.

The region, along with parts of Vidarbha, is currently experiencing an intense heatwave, with temperatures in several areas, including Akola, crossing 45°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has already issued heatwave warnings for multiple states, advising residents to take precautions, avoid outdoor activities during peak hours, and stay hydrated.
Authorities have urged people to remain vigilant as heat-related illnesses continue to rise during the ongoing summer spell. The incident highlights the growing risk posed by extreme weather conditions, especially for individuals exposed to prolonged outdoor activity without adequate protection.
