The Union Territory administration has announced a major anti-drug initiative under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, aiming to make the region drug-free. The 100-day intensive drive will begin this Saturday across Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities have planned widespread awareness and enforcement measures during the campaign. The initiative reflects growing concern over substance abuse in the region. Officials believe coordinated efforts can bring long-term social change.
Manoj Sinha reviewed preparations in a high-level meeting ahead of the campaign launch. He is set to flag off a mega padyatra from MA Stadium in Jammu on April 11. The event is expected to mark the formal beginning of the mass movement against drug abuse. Senior officials and multiple departments are involved in organising the initiative. The padyatra aims to generate strong public awareness and participation.
Following the launch, a series of high-impact programmes will be conducted across the Union Territory. These include awareness drives, outreach campaigns, and community engagement activities. Officials stated that a similar large-scale campaign will also be launched in Srinagar in early May. The administration plans to ensure continuous momentum throughout the 100-day period. The goal is to reach both urban and rural populations effectively.

The lieutenant governor has emphasized the importance of mass participation in the campaign. Students, youth groups, and organisations like NCC, NSS, and Scouts & Guides will play a key role. Civil society groups, volunteers, and political representatives are also expected to contribute. This collective approach is intended to maximise outreach and impact. Authorities believe community involvement is crucial to tackling drug abuse.
The campaign highlights a broader effort to address social challenges in Jammu and Kashmir. By combining awareness, participation, and policy action, the administration aims for lasting results. The focus remains on prevention, education, and rehabilitation. Officials hope the initiative will significantly reduce drug dependency in the region. The success of the drive will depend on sustained public support and engagement.
