Lebanese Army Chief General Rodolphe Haykal met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir to discuss regional security developments and strengthening defence cooperation between the two countries, according to an official statement. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including the evolving security situation in their respective regions, defence collaboration, and opportunities to enhance bilateral military relations.
The discussions were held in the context of broader efforts by both militaries to deepen strategic engagement and expand professional cooperation. The interaction underscored growing defence diplomacy between Pakistan and Lebanon, two countries that have maintained limited but steady military contacts in recent years. Officials familiar with such engagements said exchanges of this nature typically focus on training cooperation, counterterrorism experience-sharing, and regional stability concerns.
While no detailed agreements were publicly announced following the meeting, the emphasis on strengthening bilateral military ties suggests both sides are exploring ways to institutionalise defence dialogue and expand coordination mechanisms. Such engagements often include discussions on joint training programs, capacity building, and knowledge-sharing between armed forces.

The meeting also comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions in parts of West Asia and South Asia, where regional conflicts and security challenges continue to shape defence priorities. Military officials from both countries are increasingly engaging in dialogue to better understand shifting security dynamics and potential spillover risks.
Both armies reiterated their commitment to maintaining professional cooperation and continuing dialogue on security issues of shared concern, signalling a mutual interest in sustaining military-to-military contact despite the absence of formal defence alliances.
