The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) announced on Monday that floodwater inflows in the Krishna and Godavari rivers have stabilized, but a second-level warning remains in effect at the Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada. According to APSDMA managing director Prakhar Jain, the Krishna river recorded an inflow and outflow of 6.86 lakh cusecs of floodwater at the barrage as of 6:45 AM, signaling a steady but significant flow.
In an official release, Jain stated, "The floodwater flow in both Krishna and Godavari rivers is currently stable, with 6.86 lakh cusecs recorded at Prakasam Barrage, where the second-level warning continues." Meanwhile, the Godavari river at Bhadrachalam in Telangana reached a water level of 44.4 feet, with an inflow and outflow of 9.8 lakh cusecs at the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage in Dowleswaram, East Godavari district. The first-level warning at the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage has been lifted, offering some relief to authorities.
Despite the stabilization, Jain urged residents along the Krishna and Godavari rivers to remain cautious due to the substantial water volumes. To ensure preparedness, two National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and three State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are on standby for potential rescue operations. "We are closely monitoring the situation and have resources ready to act if the need arises," Jain added.

The stable inflows follow heavy rainfall in the region, which had raised concerns about flooding in low-lying areas. Authorities are advising riparian communities to stay alert and follow safety guidelines as the state continues to manage the flood situation. With disaster response teams on high alert, Andhra Pradesh is taking proactive measures to safeguard lives and property in the affected regions.
