Comedian and Actor Kapil Sharma addressed the pressing incidents of gunfire at his newly opened café, Kap’s Cafe, in Surrey, Canada, during a recent press conference for the trailer launch of his upcoming film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 in Mumbai. Speaking candidly about the multiple shooting episodes that occurred at his restaurant, Kapil acknowledged the challenges faced but also remarked on the surprising business growth following each attack.
Kapil explained that there had been three separate firing incidents targeting his café, highlighting concerns about local law enforcement's capacity to handle such threats effectively. He revealed that after the initial incidents, the matter escalated to the federal level in Canada and was even discussed in the Canadian Parliament, signaling its gravity. Despite the distress caused, he expressed faith that the authorities were taking concerted steps to strengthen security measures.
Praising the Mumbai Police, Kapil contrasted his experiences in Canada with the safety he felt in Mumbai, crediting the city’s law enforcement for maintaining order. He maintained a positive outlook by saying, “Every time shots were fired there, our café ended up getting an even bigger opening afterwards. So, when God is with you, everything turns out fine.” He also expressed hope that neither he nor others would have to endure such violence in the future.

The restaurant had been targeted by gunfire first in July shortly after opening, with subsequent incidents in August and October causing property damage but, fortunately, no injuries. Local and international media reported these events, which drew attention to concerns over violence and extortion targeting South Asian businesses in the Surrey area. Kapil Sharma’s openness about the situation adds a human dimension to the unfolding security challenges.
The comedian’s resilience and optimism amid adversity were evident, as he thanked supporters and law enforcement while asserting his commitment to maintaining the café as a hub for the community. Kapil’s remarks during the press interaction reflect his candid acknowledgment of harsh realities while reaffirming hope for peace and safety.
